Soul City

NO HOMO

Im a student at The Georgia State University which is in the heart of downtown Atlanta. As a transfer student from University of Georgia which is located in Athens, georgia, I must say... it is quite fantastic to be a part of the city chaos that Athens severly lacked. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

As I was studying in the student center with a friend I couldn't help over hear a man speaking about two (obviously homosexual) guys making out in protest of the bible thumping, "Christian" converting visitors that had made their unwelcomed intrusion into our campus. After I finished up my studies I grabbed a stogie and headed in that direction and found myself paralyzed, in the cold rain, in awe of the pure and raw emotion students were pouring out into defeating these guys.

Atlanta has soul.

It shines brightly through the character and voices of the bodies who consume it.

Back to the protest,

Some of my favorate quotes from the black gentlemen to the left of the photograph are as follows:

  • "All these loud women, need to be at home! Cooking turkey sandwiches!"

  • "The end will come, and all of your soul's are doomed!" -This one is a tad cliche.

  • My personal favorate- "You have the persona of a masterbater!"

I agree with the first amendment and the right for every individual to speak freely, but I do believe this man may want to go home, practice, maybe draft an outline, maybe make a powerpoint, and try again later. He got a nice and juicy F for fail for the most absurd points ever. I was surprised he received as much attention as he did.

As for me, I finished my fag and kept it moving unfazed by the Christian man's words, but with a sense of pride at the recently witnessed demonstration which further confirms why I adore this city. Atlanta has soul.
